What We Believe

The Wesley is a mission of the United Methodist Church on the OU Campus. We teach and preach with a Wesleyan theology, but we are by no means limited to only United Methodists. We have students from all different denominational backgrounds involved in our ministry.

At The Wesley our mission is to be and to make disciples. We believe that in order to make a disciple one must be a disciple. This means we are continually challenging our students to be committed followers of Christ who are continually striving for a closer walk with God.

We believe that making disciples doesn’t happen in any one particular way. We try and offer a wide variety of small group opportunities that will meet students wherever it is they are at in their journey with God. Whether it’s someone who has never heard the Gospel before or someone who has been a committed Christian their entire adult life or anything in between, we believe that we have a place for everyone within our ministry.

Our hope and prayer is that a student will leave this place a more committed disciple than when he or she arrived and that he or she will go back into the local church as a strong leader. We believe that God is doing something special within the walls of The Wesley, and that through God’s grace we can effectively train up a new generation of leaders to lead the United Methodist Church and the Christian Church at large for centuries to come.

If you are a student at the University of Oklahoma, we hope that you will come and join us in this exciting endeavor. If you are a local church member, parent, alumni, etc. we hope that you will join us through prayer and financial giving to help us more effectively make disciples on the OU campus and train up a new generation of Christian leaders.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
