There’s a common myth out there that all Wesley Foundations are supported 100% by the Methodist Church. For a very small few, that is true. For most, including us, we have to raise a large portion of our annual budget. Only about 40% of the OU Wesley Foundation’s annual budget is funded by the United Methodist Conference, we must raise the other 60%. Some of that comes from parking revenue (both commuter parking and football parking), a small percentage comes from endowments, and the rest of that comes solely from personal donors. In order for us to effectively make disciples for Jesus Christ on the OU campus, we need the support of the Methodist conference, but we also need your support! Our donor base is made up of our current students, alumni, parents of students, and even some individuals with no tie to our Foundation other than that they believe in our mission and ministry.

In the typical church, when you are successful and growing, your income generally grows in proportion. When we experience a growth in worship, small groups, etc., our income doesn’t change because college students simply don’t have a significant amount of money to give. That is why we need YOUR help. For as little as $500 a year (less than $50 a month), you can support part of a student intern’s salary, you could provide pizza before worship for a month, you could provide MMMMonday lunches for a month, you could provide choir music for a year, or you could sponsor 10 students on a retreat. For $1200 a year, you could support an evangelism intern for a semester, you could cover our lawn care bill for 10 weeks, or you could buy us a sorely needed new computer for the staff.
